Another Valentine's pop-up shop for 2017 in the same, sweet little spot at 225
Market Street in Lewisburg, PA. Felt much easier setting up than last year--now
that we knew more-or-less what’s needed and how to fill in the space.
The window display is perhaps the most fun aspect of the shop, but last year felt like a Sisyphean task to keep up with all of the live flowers that are so wonderfully fleeting. I thought back to what I learned about paper flowers at a workshop I attended done by Ariella Chezar. The workshop was held in New Jersey, at a very dreamy place called Jardin de Buis.
Lyvia Cetti, author of the sweetest and most helpful book,
“The Exquisite Book of Paper Flowers,” came in for a few hours to teach us her craft. And it truly is exquisite!
So remembering all of this a few weeks ago, I decided to make lots of garden roses for the window
display. I chose peach because they are so beloved, and yellow
garden roses to try to bring in happy, sunny yellow. Feels like we’ve hardly
seen the sunshine in weeks!
With the help of my friend, Vince, I foraged for winterberry for height and nice red color. Then wanting to have some live flowers mixed in, I chose yellow freesia, and sweet, fragrant narcissus. My dear friend, Tara, even thought the garden roses were real, too!
Can't wait to make more!
